All work is expected to be completed by late spring, weather permitting.
This paving work on MD 140 is the last phase of a $15 million joint State Highway Administration and Baltimore County Department of Public Works and Transportation project to replace the County water line under MD 140 and enhance safety and roadway conditions. Learn more about the project here.
Beginning Sunday night, March 30, contractor crews will begin paving MD 140 overnights, Sundays through Thursdays, between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. Crews will start the work on northbound MD 140 beginning at Pleasant Hill Road. Once the northbound side is complete, crews will move to southbound MD 140 beginning at Stocksdale Avenue. Drivers can expect single-lane and double-lane closures, and temporary lane shifts along MD 140 while work is taking place though late spring. Contractor Ardent Company, LLC of McLean, VA., will use temporary traffic signs and barrels to guide motorists through the work zone.
The State Highway Administration’s contractor will install new guardrail) along this section of MD 122 beginning as early as Wednesday morning, April 2. Expect single-lane closures and temporary lane shifts along MD 122 Mondays through Thursdays between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
Crews will replace guardrail at the intersection of Monkton Road and Shepperd Road beginning as soon as Wednesday morning, April 9. Expect daytime single-lane closures and temporary lane shifts along MD 138 Mondays through Thursdays between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
The guardrail work on MD 122 and MD 138 is part of a $6.1 million areawide State Highway Administration contract to install new guardrails and upgrade existing guardrails where needed along State highways in Baltimore and Harford counties. The contractor for the guardrail work at both locations is Concrete General, Inc of Gaithersburg.
The State Highway Administration works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving, and look for reduced speed limits as well as other traffic pattern changes.
