STATE HIGHWAY ADMINISTRATION HOSTING STATEWIDE WORKSHOPS ON GRANT OPPORTUNITIES FOR LOCAL JURISDICTIONS, AGENCIES AND COMMUNITY GROUPS

​Public Workshops in February and March 

(February 13, 2025) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration is hosting six public workshops in February and March to review grant opportunities to improve bicycle and pedestrian access, assist transit-oriented development, promote freight rail safety, reduce transportation emissions and conduct tree-planting initiatives across the State.

The workshops are designed to help community groups, local governments, nonprofits, school districts and education agencies, transportation and transit authorities, natural resource or public land agencies, and tribal governments apply for State and federal grants.

Staff will discuss grants available through programs such as the Transportation Alternatives/Safe Routes to School Program, the Recreational Trails Program and the Kim Lamphier Bikeways Network Program, as well as the Maryland Highway Safety Office, Emissions Reduction Program, Freight Rail Grant Program, Transit-Oriented Development Capital Grant and Revolving Loan Fund, MDOT Urban Tree Program and Federal Discretionary Grants​.

Workshop sessions will be held 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. on the following dates and locations:

  • Tuesday, February 25 – Greater Salisbury Committee Office, 200 W. Main St., Salisbury. (Inclement weather date: March 3, 2025)
  • Thursday, February 27 – Cecil County Planning Division Building, 200 Chesapeake Blvd., Suite 2300, Elkton. (Inclement weather date: March 20, 2025)
  • Tuesday, March 4 – La Plata Town Hall, 305 Queen Anne St., La Plata. (Inclement weather date: March 10, 2025)
  • Thursday, March 6 – City of Hyattsville Municipal Building, 4310 Gallatin St., Hyattsville. (Inclement weather date: March 17, 2025)
  • Tuesday, March 11 – Banneker Community Center, 27 Main Ave., Catonsville. (Inclement weather date: March 18, 2024)
  • Thursday, March 13 – Allegany Museum, 3 Pershing St., Cumberland. (Inclement weather date: March 19, 2025)

The workshop will be held on the inclement weather date if county public school activities are canceled or delayed or if the county snow emergency plan is in effect.
