Motorists Should Expect Night Work with Alternating Lane Closures Westbound I-68 between Beall Street and Vocke Road

(July 3, 2024) - The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will begin a pavement patching project on westbound I-68 (National Freeway) between Beall Street and MD 658 (Vocke Road) near Cumberland on Monday, July 8. The patching project should be complete by July 25, weather permitting.

Crews will work nightly 8 p.m.-6 a.m. and drivers can expect alternating lane closures on westbound I-68. The State Highway Administration’s contractor, Belt Paving, Inc. of Cumberland, will use electronic message boards, detour signs, barrels, and cones to guide motorists safely through the work zone.

The State Highway Administration appreciates motorists’ patience as we complete this necessary inspection and maintenance work. Drivers are asked to slow down in the work zone for the safety of all drivers and the crews working to improve our roadways.
