The State Highway Administration will suspend lane closures for non-emergency roadwork from 5 a.m. Monday, July 3, through 9 a.m. Wednesday, July 5, for the Independence Day holiday. Therefore, no work will occur Monday night or Tuesday night. Otherwise, motorists can expect the following activities, weather permitting:
Overnight Lane Closures:
- Northbound I-95 at I-695: Overnight single-lane closures at 7 p.m., followed by double left-lane closures between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. the next day on Sunday, July 2; Wednesday, July 5; and Thursday, July 6.
- Southbound I-95 at I-695: Overnight single-lane closures at 7 p.m., followed by double left-lane closures between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. the next day on Sunday, July 2; Wednesday, July 5; and Thursday, July 6. Note: On Thursday night, July 6, there will be a triple left-lane closure on southbound I-95 between midnight and 5 a.m. Friday, July 7, to move construction work zone barriers and set a new traffic pattern in place.
Overnight Ramp Closure:
- Ramp from southbound I-95 to eastbound I-695 (outer loop): There will be a closure and detour overnight, 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the next day on Sunday July 2; Wednesday, July 5; and Thursday, July 6. The detour will guide motorists to exit onto Caton Avenue, proceed on southbound Caton Avenue, stay right to southbound US 1 Alt (Washington Boulevard), then take eastbound I-695 (outer loop).
Daytime Lane Closures:
- Sulphur Spring Road under I-95: Lane shifts and/or lane closures with flagging operations to control two-way traffic between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, July 5-7.
Contractor Wagman Heavy Civil Inc. will perform the work and will use digital message boards, temporary signs and barrels to safely guide drivers through the area. The State Highway Administration understands closures can be an inconvenience for some travelers and asks motorists to stay alert and be patient as they pass through work zones.
