Closure to Ensure Safety During Routine Tree-Trimming Operations
(August 3, 2022) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will close the ramp from the outer loop of I-495 (Capital Beltway) to Clara Barton Parkway (Exit 41) in Montgomery County on Saturday, August 6, to protect crews and motorists as workers perform routine tree trimming.
From 6 a.m. to about 2 p.m. Saturday, crews will trim trees, brush and grass along the ramp. Motorists will be detoured via Exit 44, VA 193/Georgetown Pike and the inner loop of I-495 to access Clara Barton Parkway. In the event of inclement weather or if additional time is needed to complete the work, crews will resume work at 6 a.m. Sunday, August 7.
Drivers should allow extra time traveling in this area. MDOT SHA will use electronic signs, cones and barrels to alert motorists about the work, ramp closure and detour.
MDOT SHA works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving and look for reduced speed limits, as well as other driving pattern changes. Please drive like you work here and slow down in construction zones.
Motorists in need may dial #77 on their mobile device for roadside assistance.
