Crews Begin Sidewalk Reconstruction Between Jean Drive and Meadowdale Drive; Project Will Continue Through Mid-Summer
(May 13, 2022) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) is continuing a project to improve pedestrian access along segments of MD 26 (Liberty Road) in Baltimore County, and will begin work Monday, May 16, on eastbound MD 26 between Jean Drive and Meadowdale Drive.
Through mid-summer, crews will reconstruct concrete sidewalks, sidewalk ramps, curbs, gutters and driveway aprons. Crews will work weekdays, 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and overnight, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday evenings through Friday mornings. The work is weather permitting.
During work hours, MDOT SHA contractor Image Asphalt Maintenance, of Pasadena, will have single-lane closures along MD 26. While performing concrete work, sections of sidewalks will be temporarily closed to pedestrians. Electronic signs, cones and barrels will be in place to alert motorists and pedestrians of the work zone and detours.
Additionally, MDOT SHA expects to complete improvements to two other segments of MD 26 this summer:
- MD 26 between Brenbrook Drive and North Rolling Road, and
- MD 26 between Deer Park Road and Pikeswood Road.
MDOT SHA works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving, look for reduced speed limits, as well as other driving pattern changes. Please drive like you work here and slow down in construction zones.
