(November 6, 2020) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will remove the traffic split on I-83 south (Baltimore-Harrisburg Expressway) at Padonia Road on Sunday, Nov. 8.
Starting at 8 p.m., crews will close the right lane on I-83 south at 8 p.m., followed by the middle lane at 10 p.m. The roadway will re-open at 5 a.m. Monday, Nov. 9.
MDOT SHA’s contractor will relocate construction barriers, re-mark the pavement and remove the two lane/one lane traffic split currently in effect at the Padonia Road interchange.
Once that work is complete, all three lanes of I-83 south will be open to traffic with the work zone in place along the right side of I-83 south. The split traffic pattern on I-83 north will be in effect through early spring 2021. Learn more about the project HERE.
If there is inclement weather Sunday night, the overnight traffic lane shift will be rescheduled to 8 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 9, or the next possible weeknight.
MDOT SHA works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving and, look for reduced speed limits, as well as other driving pattern changes. Drive like you work here and slow down in construction zones.
