(January 2, 2019) – Beginning on or about January 7, Baltimore Gas and Electric (BGE) will begin work to relocate a major gas line on MD 175 (Annapolis Road/Jessup Road) near the MD 295 (Baltimore-Washington Parkway) Interchange. Crews will shift westbound MD 175 travel lanes to the eastbound lanes. MD 175 will be reduced to one lane in each direction between National Business Parkway and MD 295, a distance of one-quarter mile.
In addition to the lane closures on MD 175, utility crews will also close the ramp from southbound MD 295 to westbound MD 175. Motorists will be detoured using the loop ramps at the MD 295/MD 175 interchange. Finally, utility crews will temporarily close Race Road at Orchard Road. Motorists will be guided to Wigley Road to Orchard Road and back to Race Road. The lane closure on MD 175, Race Road and ramp at the interchange are expected to re-open early-February.
Flagpersons, concrete barrier and quick-curb will guide motorists through the work zone. Nearly 20,000 motorists use this section of MD 175 each day, so motorists are urged to allow extra commuting time and consider using MD 100 or MD 32 as alternate routes.
If you have any questions, please contact

While MDOT SHA and its transportation partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, each driver needs to actively modify his or her driving style to help prevent crashes. Stay alert and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers. Slow down and don’t follow too closely.
