Motorists Should Expect Single and Double Lane Closures
The road was last resurfaced in 2000. MDOT SHA will patch, grind (remove the top layer of asphalt), pave and restripe more than 2.7 miles of US 40. Crews will also repair or upgrade guardrails within the project limits. Most of the project will occur at night, Sundays through Fridays between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. MDOT SHA’s contractor, Allan Myers MD, Inc. of Fallston, is permitted to close two lanes during construction.
Crews will use barrels, message signs and arrow boards to guide motorists through the work zone. Approximately 47,000 vehicles use this section of US 40 each day so motorists should plan extra travel time during project work hours.

Approximately 35,000 vehicles travel on this section of US 1 each day. Crews will work 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. Sundays through Friday mornings to minimize delays.
While SHA and its transportation partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, each driver need to actively modify his or her driving style to help prevent crashes.
