Work Begins Monday between Cecilton and Delaware Line
(August 25, 2016) – Beginning Monday, August 29, the Maryland Department of Transportation’s State Highway Administration (SHA) will pave more than six miles of MD 282 (Cecilton-Warwick Road) between Cecilton and the Delaware state line. Work includes removing the top layer of asphalt, patching, resurfacing and restriping. Crews will work during daylight hours Monday through Friday to complete the project in approximately six weeks, weather permitting. Motorists should expect single-lane closures and flagging operations in this area.
An average of 2,600 vehicles travel this section of MD 282 each day. This work is part of a $5.6 million multi-location paving contract for Cecil County awarded to Allan Myers of Fallston. Estimated cost for this resurfacing is $2.8 million.
While SHA and its transportation partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, each driver needs to actively modify his or her driving style to help prevent crashes. Stay alert and look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers. Slow down and don’t follow too closely. Work Zone Safety is in Your Hands.
