(November 10, 2011) – Beginning at 9 p.m. tonight, Baltimore Gas and Electric (BGE) will begin working on a high voltage line along westbound MD 140 (Reisterstown Road) between Craddock Lane and Kenmar Avenue.  The Maryland State Highway administration (SHA) will assist BGE by closing the right lane along westbound Reisterstown Road  for one-half mile in the vicinity of MD 130 (Greenspring Valley Road).

The temporary right lane closure of westbound MD 140 will allow BGE crews to identify a fault in a high voltage electric transmission line under the roadway.  Once located, BGE will return within one or two days to initiate repairs to the line.  The repair closure will be in effect for approximately one week or until repairs are complete, weather permitting.

SHA recommends that motorists traveling on MD 140 west of I-695 should anticipate traffic delays and plan for extra travel time, or consider alternate routes to Reisterstown and Owings Mills, such as I-795 (Northwest Expressway).

While SHA and its transportation partners work hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones, each driver needs to actively modify his or her driving style to help prevent crashes. Stay alert - look for reduced speed limits, narrow driving lanes and highway workers.  Slow down and don't follow too closely.  Safer Driving. Safer Work Zones.  For everyone.
