Overnight Work Will Require Detours at Two Interchange Ramps
(September 15, 2022) –The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will begin pre-construction activity next week for the MD 175 (Annapolis Road)/MD 295 (Baltimore Washington Parkway) interchange reconstruction project in northern Anne Arundel County.
The overnight work involves the placement of concrete barrier walls and the installation of temporary striping along two interchange ramps. All work is weather permitting.
The location of the work was updated on September 19.
On Monday, September 19, through Wednesday, September 21, crews will work from 10 p.m. until 5 a.m. the next morning and require temporary closures of the northwest outer ramp (southbound MD 295 to westbound MD 175) and the southeast outer ramp (northbound MD 295 to eastbound MD 175). Barrier wall will be placed along the southbound ramp first.
Drivers will be redirected to use the following detours while work is underway:
-
For the southbound MD 295 ramp closure to westbound MD 175 (Northwest Outer Ramp): Drivers will be directed to continue along southbound MD 295 to the ramp for eastbound MD 175, then to the ramp for northbound MD 295 and then to the ramp for westbound MD 175.
-
For the northbound MD 295 ramp closure to eastbound MD 175 (Southwest Outer Ramp): Drivers will be directed to the ramp for eastbound MD 175, then to southbound MD 295 and then to the ramp for eastbound MD 175.
MDOT SHA’s contractor, R. E. Pierson Construction Company of Pilesgrove, N.J., is performing the work.

The expanded law is in place to protect emergency responders and motorists who encounter a roadside emergency.
Motorists in need may dial #77 on their mobile device for roadside assistance.
