Office of Communications
The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) Office of Communications provides timely and accurate information to the public about highway projects, traffic and roadway conditions, special programs, and agency policies and achievements. This office manages media relations and research, crisis communications, safety and program marketing, public affairs strategic planning and policy, agency publications and web content, customer service policy, special events and employee communications. The director of the Office of Communications reports directly to the administrator.

The
communications team works closely with print, broadcast and online media to inform the public. OC handles approximately 3,000 media inquiries each year.
Members of the Office of Communications are on-call 24 hours a day and serve as public information officers during emergency operations.
