The Office of Occupational Homeland Security & Occupational Safety (OHSOS) centralizes occupational safety and homeland security management for the entire Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA).

OHSOS does the following:

• represents MDOT SHA at the Maryland Emergency Management Agency for exercises and any Governor or Departmental declared emergencies
• oversees Homeland Security grants,
• manages MDOT SHA’s Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP)
• represents MDOT SHA before the Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA) for reimbursement and for all presidentially declared emergencies
