Miss Utility is a one-call notification center that notifies subscribing underground facility owner members about proposed excavation plans.
Under Maryland law, you must provide prior notification to all owner members of underground facilities when you intend to perform an excavation or demolition. Most underground facility owners are required to become owner members. Owner members receive notification of planned excavation or demolition from the Miss Utility one-call notification center.
As an owner member of underground facilities (traffic signals, fiber optics, highway lighting, Automated Traffic Recorders), MDOT SHA is notified of proposed excavation or demolition within MDOT SHA rights of way.
Anyone proposing excavation or demolition within MDOT SHA rights of way must provide information to the one-call notification center. To learn your responsibilities, read the following:
