STATE HIGHWAY ADMINISTRATION TEMPORARILY CLOSES LANES IN BETHESDA FOR NEW BUS PAD INSTALLATION FOR TWO WEEKENDS
MD187 Closures Will Occur Over Two Weekends
This Friday, June 10, the Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) will begin new bus pad installation along MD 187 (Old Georgetown Road) between MD 355 (Wisconsin Avenue) and North Brook Lane. This work is part of the $1 million safety and resurfacing project in downtown Bethesda.
Crews will begin work on southbound MD 187 Friday, June 10. Weather permitting, SHA will close two lanes overnight, Friday, June 10 between 10 p.m. and noon Saturday, June 11, with a single lane closure Saturday, June 11 between noon and noon Sunday, June 12.
The following weekend, crews will close two lanes on northbound MD 187 overnight Friday, June 17 between 10 p.m. and noon Saturday, June 18, with a single lane closure Saturday, June 18 between noon and noon Sunday, June 19.
The closures are necessary to ensure both motorist and worker safety as the bus pads are poured and formed along MD 187 between MD 355 and North Brook Lane. The MD 187 project began spring 2011 and is expected to be complete this summer, weather permitting.
