Motorists Can Expect Double-Lane Closures Through Monday

(May 1, 2024) – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will repair pavement along I-695 (Baltimore Beltway) outer loop near MD 648 Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard) in northern Anne Arundel County on Friday, May 3. The work is expected to be completed by 5 a.m., Monday, May 6, weather permitting.

Starting 8 p.m. Friday, SHA contractor crews will perform full depth asphalt patching, which requires the closure of up to two lanes along eastbound (outer loop) I-695 between MD 170 (Camp Meade Road) and the MD 648 overpass. The State Highway Administration’s contractor, Ardent Company LLC of McClean, Va. will use variable message signs, barrels, and temporary traffic signs to guide motorists through the work zone.

Drivers should plan for additional travel time or use alternate routes. Lanes will be closed until all work is complete. Customers who have questions about this work may contact the SHA District 5 Office at 410-841-1000 or toll-free at 1-800-331-5603.

The State Highway Administration works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving, and look for reduced speed limits as well as other traffic pattern changes. Please drive like you work here and slow down in construction zones. Motorists in need may dial #77 on their mobile devices for roadside assistance.
